May 19, 2014 · This is true for all Mavic road and cross wheels since around 2001. Mavic used a nylon bushing as the inner bearing. A combination of friction and ingress of road fratz wears down the nylon and creates free play. Not good. Aside from buying a replacement freehub , Mavic don't offer a replacement
Nov 28, 2017 · I have a set of Mavic Ksyrium Pro Allroad Disc wheels, and they're fitted with 12mm thru-axles. I want to swap out the existing Shimano freehub body and install the SRAM XD driver, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the end cap for "Step 1" so I can get to the snap ring, also in Step 1.

Jul 16, 2009 · I have some Mavic Crossmax wheels on my mtb and they have been great. Several of the spokes have gouges and scratches in them, but I haven't had any fail. However, make sure you do the freehub service regularly. I recently replaced my freehub and found some good resources: Mavic Freehub Service

Needed to convert a Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheel from Campy to Shimano. This is the correct part. Use only freehub oil and not grease when assembling. Careful when removing old part, pawls (2) can pop out and since they are small, can get lost. Worked perfect!

My Mavik rear wheel is only 8 months old so I blame my lack of maintenance and the use of cheap two stroke oil in really cold weather. There are other problems with mavic free hubs but this was just cold weather and cheap oil, imho.

Mavic’s recommended lubricant is 10w mineral oil. I didn’t have any on-hand, so I decided to use Dumonde Tech Freehub Oil. We reviewed their entire line of lubricants (linked at the bottom of this page), and Vestal noted that he’s used it with success on their hubs.
Nov 16, 2017 · The coil springs backing Bontrager's pawl system make the Freehub Oil the obvious choice. For comparison a Chris King hub would run the Freehub Grease on their drive-and-driven ring system and the Project 321 hubs that both Tim and I are currently riding, with their magnetic pawl retraction, ship with the Dumondetech Oil.

Mavic freehubs work perfectly w/ Dumonde. 'Mineral oil' is a rough translation from french...it doesn't literally mean 'mineral oil' as we think of it. Virtually any oil will work, the only caution i've heard from Mavic tech guys is to stay away from oils w/ teflon added. I've been using Mobil1 for ages, and have used Dumonde as well.

Use oil, not grease, to lubricate inside the freehub body, the pawls and the hub boss that the freehub runs on. Too much oil is better than too little. A little pool in the freehub body is fine. Mavic mineral oil may be difficult to obtain; specialist road bike shops and then only to order. To reiterate, you must use oil and a very thin oil at that.
I've tried 3 in 1 oil on my Mavic hub but it didn't hang around for long so I went thicker and tried EP90, which is gear oil. It has stopped the freehub body from rocking slightly on the hub ...
